NGC 752

NGC 752 is a very old open cluster in the same field of vision as gamma Andromedae.
The cluster of perhaps 70-80 stars is very large and looks best in binoculars.

The cluster is about 1200 light years away and is considered to be perhaps 1.7 billion years old.

In binoculars the cluster is easily found just south of Almach (gamma Andromedae).

Two orange stars seem to form a close binary near the edge of NGC 752, but the stars -- attractive as they are -- are only optical. This is 56 Andromedae and an unnamed neighbour.
