The Payment For Sin
(Fulfilled By Gods Perfect LOVE)

The meaning of the word "Gospel" is "Good News". About what? About Christ's redemptive WORK FOR US on the cross! About HIS PAYMENT for OUR sin.
But why?

Because, as we've seen, WE CAN'T DO IT OURSELVES!

No, not why do we need him, but why would God even come down,
in human form, and suffer such a horrendous death, for us??

Because HE LOVES US!

That God SO LOVED the world, that he gave his ONLY begotten Son, that WHOSOEVER believeth in him should not perish, but HAVE everlasting life. (John 3:16)

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)

Ok, so SPELL IT OUT for me, what really is this Gospel of Jesus Christ?
Well, there are 3 truths you MUST understand... to then make 1 decision.

  1) That Christ died for our sins. (1 Corinthians 15:3b)

  • CHRIST PAID the judgement WE deserved to pay.

But he was wounded for OUR transgressions, he was bruised for OUR iniquities; the chastisement of OUR peace was upon him; and with HIS stripes WE are healed... and Jehovah hath laid on HIM the iniquity of US all. (Isaiah 53:5,6b)

... who HIS own self bare OUR sins in HIS body upon the tree, that WE, having died unto sins, might live unto righteousness; by whose stripes YE were healed. (1 Peter 2:24)

... when HE had made purification of sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; (Hebrews 1:3b)

  • Christ's work is complete. Our sin "debt" is PAID IN FULL.

When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, He said, IT IS FINISHED:
and He bowed his head, and gave up his spirit. (John 19:30)

... and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanseth us from ALL sin. (1 John 1:7b)

Because Christ also suffered for sins once, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God; being put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit; (1 Peter 3:18)

  • Christ's righteousness is CREDITED to the believing sinner's account.

Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds
    of the law. (Romans 3:28)

For Christ is the end of the law unto righteousness to every one that believeth. (Romans 10:4)

 2) That Christ was buried. (1 Corinthians 15:4a)

 3) And that Christ rose again. (1 Corinthians 15:4b)

  • This was a bodily resurrection witnessed by many.

... and that he was seen of Cephas; then of the twelve: after that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also... (1 Corinthians 15:5-9)

If it wasn't so, why would Paul write this while the witnesses STILL LIVED?! Besides, NO WHERE do we find biblical or secular evidence to the contrary.

Then, in addition to the overwhelming visual evidence, we find the faith-
shattered Thomas, and his ultimate reaction to the physical evidence!

Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side:

WHY?! To remove any/all obstacles/objections from Thomas' faith.

...and BE NOT FAITHLESS, BUT BELIEVING. And Thomas answered...
MY LORD AND MY GOD! (John 20:27-28)

Ok,  in review,  a couple more questions...

1) How much of the saving does Jesus do? (ALL OF IT!)

2) For whom did Christ die and rise again? (EVERYONE!)

3) Does that mean everyone will escape God's judgement? (NO!)

4) Then what makes the difference? (Are You Ready?)

... be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove
what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. (Romans 12:2)
