The Problem Of Sin
(It Violates Gods Perfect HOLINESS)
| One of the primary problems with sin is that we are all guilty of it!
For there is not a just man upon the earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not. (Ecclesiastes 7:20)
For ALL have sinned... (Romans 3:23a)
There is NONE righteous, NO NOT ONE. (Romans 3:10)
Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from sin? (Proverbs 20:9)
Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin;
and so death passed upon ALL men, for that ALL have sinned." (Romans 5:12) So you see, we all, including you AND ME both, have a SIN PROBLEM. |
| But what really is the definition of sin?
Sin is the transgression of the law. (1 John 3:4)
So sin is the BREAKING of the LAW. What law? God's laws, any, & all of them! This can be summed up by the 10 commandments. Have you kept them ALL?
... and come SHORT of the GLORY of God. (Romans 3:23b) |
| What's wrong with a LITTLE sin? The good things balance out the bad, right?

For whosoever shall keep the WHOLE law, and yet offend in ONE point, Cursed is EVERY ONE that continueth not in ALL THINGS written... But we are ALL as an unclean thing, and ALL our righteousnesses are as "filthy" rags. (Isaiah 64:6a) It is VERY revealing that the Hebrew translation of the word "filthy" means "USED menstrual clothes"! That's what God thinks of our "good" works.
At least regarding OUR good works ABILITY to make us RIGHTEOUS,
Once again, God DOES have a standard of righteousness, and no matter WHO we are we all fail, we all come short. We are all sinners. Some are down-and-out sinners, an some are up-and-out sinners. Others are disgraceful sinners, while still others are respectable sinners. Nonetheless, ALL are sinners. ... and come SHORT of the GLORY of God. (Romans 3:23b) You finally getting it? Is it sinking in?! |

| But wait a second, slow down there, hold on just a minute... STOP!
My personal works MUST have SOME benefit in regard to my securing a position in heaven. They just have too. Right? WRONG! NOT BY WORKS of righteousness which we have done, but according to
HIS MERCY He saved us. (Titus 3:5a)
Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in His sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. (Romans 3:20)
For BY GRACE are ye saved THROUGH FAITH; and that NOT of yourselves: Recieve ye the Spirit by the WORKS OF THE LAW, OR by the HEARING OF FAITH? Are ye so foolish?! Having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?! Even as Abraham BELIEVED God, and IT WAS ACCOUNTED to him for RIGHTEOUSNESS... THEY WHICH ARE OF FAITH, THE SAME ARE THE CHILDREN OF ABRAHAM. (Galatians 3:2-3,6)
But ISRAEL, which FOLLOWED AFTER THE LAW of righteousness, hath NOT attained to the law of righteousness. Wherefore? Because they sought it NOT BY FAITH, but as it were BY THE WORKS of the law. For they stumbled... (Romans 9:31+)
Then said they unto Him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye BELIEVE on Him whom He hath sent. (John 6:28-29)
But to him that WORKETH NOT, but BELIEVETH on Him that justifieth the ungodly, HIS FAITH IS COUNTED for righteousness. (Romans 4:5)
Knowing that a man IS NOT JUSTIFIED by the WORKS of the law, but by the FAITH of Jesus Christ... that we might be JUSTIFIED by the
FAITH of Christ, and NOT by the works
of the law: for by the works of the law shall NO flesh be justified. (Galatians 2:16+)
By HIM (Christ) ALL that believe ARE justified from ALL things, from which ye could NOT BE JUSTIFIED BY THE LAW of Moses. (Acts 13:39)
Therefore we conclude that a man is JUSTIFIED BY FAITH WITHOUT the deeds of the LAW. (Romans 3:28) I guess God means for us to understand that OUR GOOD WORKS HAVE NO EFFECT ON OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS, OR JUSTIFICATION IN HIS EYES! It seems that He's very firm on this issue! |
