M16 (NGC 6611) is a marvellous deep sky object, even more spectacular in large telescopes.

About 60-70 stars sparkle in this open cluster with an associated nebula, not best seen in binoculars.

The dark dust clouds have given this nebula the name "Eagle Nebula".

Place nu Oph at the northwestern edge of your glasses, then move them slightly to the southeast until nu Oph slides out of view. M16 will have slid into view in the southeast: binoculars.
