M22 (NGC 6656) is a very fine globular cluster 10,000 light years away.
While easily appreciated in binoculars, a telescope is needed to resolve individual stars.
The cluster is in the same field as lambda Sagittarii: binoculars.
In the same field is M28, also a globular cluster, bright but not nearly as spectacular, perhaps because it is about 15,000 light years away.
