Piscis Austrinus, The Southern Fish, is just south of Aquarius and Capricornus. It houses the bright star Fomalhaut (‘The Fish's Mouth’). Note the spelling: Piscis (singular) as opposed to the more notable constellation Pisces (plural). Besides Fomalhaut, Piscis Austrinus has a notable red dwarf.
Alpha Piscis Austrini is Fomalhaut, ‘The Fish's Mouth’, a bright blue-ish star in the southern part of the skies (for northern hemisphere residents). It has a visual magnitude of 1.2 and a distance of 25 light years. The star is one of the signs that Autumn is here, and is found southwest of the Great Square of Pegasus. Formalhaut has a number of fairly bright neighbours.
